Welcome! Thanks for taking an interest in my graphic design portfolio. This portfolio was curated in Spring 2025, featuring work from my undergraduate career at Marshall University.
Marshall University’s Annual Black History Month Poster Competition
-
2024 Black History Month Poster Competition Submission
Archival pigment print, 11×14, November 2023.
This was my submission for Marshall University’s Annual Black History Month Poster Competition. The 2024 theme was “African Americans in the Arts.”
-
Marshall University’s 2024 Black History Month Poster
Archival pigment print, 11”×17”, January 2024
My submission was selected by a committee and placed first out of the largest submission pool the competition has had! I was given additional text and logos to add onto the poster and I opted to also add blue boarder and change the upper text alignment. 500 copies were printed and distributed around Marshall’s campus and Huntington West Virginia.
-
Marshall University's 2025 Black History Month Poster Competition Promotional Flier
Archival pigment print, 8.5”x11”, October 2024.
I was asked by the selection committee to create promotional materials for the following year’s competition. The committee wanted the fliers to reflect my winning poster’s design while promoting the new theme.
-
K-12 2025 Black History Month Poster Competition Flier
Archival pigment print, 8.5”×11”, October 2024.
The selection committee requested both fliers to look similar, but be easy to distinguish between. I opted to use warm and cool tones to visually separate the K-12 fliers from Marshall’s. I included my solid color boarder on the upper right corner, and colorful squares reflecting my poster.
-
2025 Black History Month Poster Exhibition Post Card (front)
Archival pigment print, 8.5”x5.5”, January 2025.
The last promotional material I created for the competition was this postcard used to advertise the exhibition and awards ceremony. I included each exhibiting student’s name as the focal point for my design and utilized the same color pallet and typeface I’ve been using. I redid the block 2024 I used on my poster to reflect the new year.
-
2025 Black History Month Poster Exhibition Post Card (back)
Archival pigment print, 8.5”x5.5”, January 2025.
The backside of my postcard design features the exhibition information and logos.

Sylvia Poster Proposal for Marshall University’s School of Theater

Sylvia Poster Proposal, 24”x36”, Digital Media, April 2024.
But that’s ok! I had fun making this. I really like my colors and the style of the heading text, but the information isn’t the most legible or highlighted prominently. I completely understand why the client chose my classmate’s proposal, and I am still proud of mine!
My proposal wasn’t chosen ;(

Huntington Children’s Museum Mural
-
My initial proposal to the client
HCM Mural Proposal, 15’x10’, December 2023.
In my Advanced Graphic Design class at Marshall, my final assignment for that class was this mural proposal. The client came and talked to our class about what they were looking for: A mural highlighting the Ohio River, the water cycle, and animals/nature from Appalachia.
-
The Final Mural
HCM Mural, 15’x10’, February 2024.
The client ended up liking my proposal, and my one of my classmates. They preferred my color palette and cartoon style nature, houses, and sun. But my classmate Morgan had a better composition, visual texture, and hand drawn animals. She helped me co-lead a team to finish the project the following semester. Our team in our Graphic Design Workshop Class was comprised of Morgan Barchette, Demi Napier, Olivia Miller, and Anna Clay. They also made signs to accompany the mural and go along with the museum’s water table installation. The project has since continued, led by Morgan, and I love seeing the continuation of my assets.

The mural to the left of the pony wall was completed by Morgan Napier and Collective 37. Signage was completed by the team Morgan and I co-led.
Non-Fictitious Crop Circles

Non-Fictitious Crop Circles
Non-Fictitious Crop Circles: A Culmination of Crop Circle Culture from 1990 to Today, 5"x8”, Mixed Media Artist Book: Archival Pigment Prints, Found Green Vellum, Green Painters Tape, Sharpie. Xylene Transfer, December 2024.
This artist book is a series of 8 and I made it for my Intro to Book Arts class. We were challenged to make an artist book based off of found non-fiction text. I found an example that kinda pushed what would be considered non-fiction. I found two websites founded in the 80s and 90s committed to preserving crop circle culture. They were archives and forums of artists and scientists, people that believed in the supernatural, and those who think its all just teenagers in a field. Tons and tons of lost media all about the niche of crop circles. I wanted to present that text in my own way.
-
Front and Back Cover
The cover is made of green Canson Mi-Teintes paper with a Xylene transfer design. I made the design in Adobe Illustrator and then mirrored it and printed it out on a laser printer. I transfered the design from the computer paper onto the green paper by using a Xylene marker and bone folder to press the print onto the cover. Each cover took about 45 minutes to ensure everything was transferred.
-
Code of Conduct
The code of conduct comes from cropcircleconnector.com The page on the right was text included after the code of conduct list, and I decided to give it it’s own page. The cool typeface is called Devil’s Haircut. I love it.
-
The Art of Circles
This crop circle spread is made of two conflicting quotes regarding whether crop circles should be considered an art or a science.
-
Farmers Perspective
This spread is dedicated to the farmers, and more specifically Ben and Charles, who were personally affected by crop circles. I used green painters tape and Sharpie on this page because I regretted the UFO I had initially printed. I love slight variations between my editions.
-
Beginners Guide and Redacted
This green vellum found me right before this project, so I was excited to use it. I chose to do a sort of blackout poetry. I think it resembles censored government documents.
-
Predictions for 1998
The page on the left is one of the only times I insert my voice in the book. The two quotes on the right were made by the same guy, and I really wish I knew if he was right. If you walked into a crop circle in 1998, please hit me up.
Emojienius App Prototype
-
Opening Page
Emojienius Landing Page, Mobile App Prototype, Adobe Illustrator and Figma, November 2024.
This app prototype was designed for my Web Design class in November 2024. It is a form of a language translation app aimed at making understanding emojis and their secondary meanings easier.
Above is the first screen you would see opening the app.
-

Users have the option to sign in or create an account.
-
User Sign Up Page
Emojienius User Sign Up Page, Mobile App Prototype, Adobe Illustrator and Figma, November 2024.
Page for first-time visitors. Users can choose a profile emoji.
-
Home / Search Page
Emojienius Search Page, Mobile App Prototype, Adobe Illustrator and Figma, November 2024.
Users are able to search by emoji or by phrase. Clicking the arrows switches places of Emoji and English. If users search emojis they will be given age appropriate responses based on age restrictions in settings.
-
Safe Search Response for Broccoli
Emojienius Safe Search Broccoli, Mobile App Prototype, Adobe Illustrator and Figma, November 2024.
Example of what a safe search response could look like. It features a sentence informing the user that there is a secondary meaning, but it’s not age-appropriate. The related emojis section changes to match the appropriate definition. The large turn safe search off button would be removed. It is only there so I can navigate during the demonstration.
-
Uncensored Version of Broccoli
Emojienius Censored Broccoli, Mobile App Prototype, Adobe Illustrator and Figma, November 2024.
For users over 18, links to Urban Dictionary’s entry about that emoji are provided. The related emojis are more relevant than the censored version.
-
Saved Searches Section
Emojienius Saved Searches Page, Mobile App Prototype, Adobe Illustrator and Figma, November 2024.
Users can choose to save certain emojis and make notes about them. This can help users remember commonly used emojis, or the notes section can be used to create additional meanings with friends.
-
Profile Page
Emojienius Profile Page, Mobile App Prototype, Adobe Illustrator and Figma, November 2024.
On the profile page, users can add friends on the app to share emoji notes with. They can also set favorite emojis as well as reach normal settings options, like clearing search history and logging out.

Sharing of the Arts Program (front)
Sharing of the Arts Program, 8.5”x11”, Archival Pigment Print, July 2023.
I designed the program for the camp’s final closing ceremony. I worked with Marshall and GSA branding to design an 8.5×11 sheet of paper. Around 300 copies were printed, and that was my record at the time, so it was super fulfilling.
-
Sharing of the Arts Program (back)

This side of the program explains the order of the presentation. Titles of performances are in black while instructors are in light gray.
-
Mentor Day Thank You Cards
Mentor Day Thank You Cards, 8”x5”, Archival Pigment Print, July 2023.
One day during the camp, students are allowed to invite one of their mentors to spend the day with them. It’s not mandatory, and since this camp accepts applicants state wide, not all kids have mentors attend. But for the mentors that did, they got a swag bag and a thank you card.
-
Temporary Parking Passes
Temporary Visitors Parking Pass, 5.5”x4.5”, Archival Pigment Print, July 2023.
More official parking passes were supposed to be given, but when we didn’t have them the day before our event on the 9th, I figured it out.

Thumbnails 1-9
First 9 thumbnails, Digital Media, April 2024.
The client was a fan of the style of design that Marshall University used in the 60s-80s. He stressed that he needed something timeless, but strongly appreciated retro Marshall University style and the darker green color Marshall uses in their branding as opposed to bright Kelly green.
-
Thumbnails 10-15
Last 6 thumbnails, Digital Media, April 2024.
These thumbnails were all sent to the client. He preferred numbers 1, 2, 9, 10, So I worked to further develop the chosen thumbnails.

Lawn Sign
Yard Sign, Digital Media, 24”x18”, April 2024.
The lawn sign wasn’t produced because of the budget and time frame. The intention for the hoof marks was to place an RFID sticker that allowed student to tap their phone to the sign and immediately cast their vote.

Marshall University’s Academic Advising Retreat

Advising Retreat, Digital Media, 24”x36”, May 2024..

The client decided to turn my poster design into the program for the event. They used my design as the cover, and then a different designer used my assets to design the back cover and the inside content.

Spray Painting Outside
Surreal Streams outside da apartment, Spray Paint and Acrylic on Fiberglass Fish Sculpture, Roughly off the Pedestal 2’x3’x4’, Photographed April 2024.
I was outside spray painting this 3 times a day 3-4 days in a row. We were the weird neighbors. Either my apartment complex didn’t care or they were waiting for me to keep it outside a full week. Either way. Don’t ask permission. Just spray paint on your patio.

Except for the Openers and the Covers
Except for the Openers and the Covers, 11”x17” individually, 25”x37” together, Digital Media, April 2024.
This piece was one of the first projects I worked on for my Capstone. I compiled all of my setlists and worked to organize my text for months. I started this piece in August 2023, and it made it through 2 in-progress critiques before I finished it in November 2024. Right now the list is still accurate! I’ll try to update you if I see another show.
-
Orange/Red Variation
Except for the Openers and the Covers, 11”x17”, Digital Media, April 2024.
I couldn’t pick only one color variation. This orange/red one was the first color way I played with and the strongest visually.
-
Yellow/Green Variation
Except for the Openers and the Covers, 11”x17”, Digital Media, April 2024.
This one reminds me of an unripe banana. And also, Brazil.
-
Green/Blue Variation
Except for the Openers and the Covers, 11”x17”, Digital Media, April 2024.
This one is my favorite! I think it’s the contrast between the green and blue, and the subtle difference in shades of green.
-
Blue Variation
Except for the Openers and the Covers, 11”x17”, Digital Media, April 2024.
This one tastes like Blue Raspberry.

-
Linoleum Block
Don’t Know What I Want Until It Hangs Above Me, 5”x7”, Linoleum Matrix, July 2024.
This is the linoleum block that I carved for the print. I had to carve it mirrored to how you see it for it to print correctly, but I flipped the photo for you. The block is 5” x 7” and I printed it on 8” x 10” printmaking paper.
-
Digital Illustration

Earbudz
-
Front cover
Earbudz, 8”x10”, Mixed Media Artist Book, September 2024.
I designed this for my intro to Book Arts Class. I borrowed my roommates earbuds and scanned them on my photo scanner. Then put that image in Adobe Illustrator and image traced it and made a vector. I printed that out on a laser printer and used a Xylene marker to transfer the print onto a thicker card stock.
-
Interior
Earbudz, 16”x10”, Mixed Media Artist Book, September 2024.
The blue paper is Canson Mi Teintes paper, the earbud and charger are remnants from failed image transfers. I wrote these lists of songs and albums in about 10 minutes on a random day in September, so the list has already changed, but I love that this piece is a snapshot of my music taste at that particular moment.
-
Back cover
Earbudz, 8”x10”, Mixed Media Artist Book, September 2024.
The text is all printed on neon cardstock in 3 different colors, from Office Depot.
Conan Gray Concert Fliers
I took this photo of Conan Gray at a concert I went to in 2022. I knew I wanted to use it in a design somehow, but didn’t make this flier until March 2024. I printed it on yellow and pink neon cardstock.
